CS Regulation Officer Trousers

In 1861 CS Regulations stated for both enlisted and officers shall be of cloth throughout the year and made loose to spread well over the foot.

General Offices will have Two stripes of Gold Lace down the seam, each being 5/8ths of an inch in width and 1/8th inch approx between the gold stripes.

Though from the outset of the war Officers would have purchased their own trousers and tended to interpret the regulations, mostly this was down to financial reasons and often access to tailors and as the war progress materials.
