Wyoming Trades Fish Slicker Black
In 1881, Abner J. Tower developed his Fish Brand mustard yellow Pommel Slicker. The material was basically what many of us have known as oil cloth, which had an aromatic fishy smell. unlike the modern version that does not have this aroma. It was to be more flexible than the rubberized material that Goodyear patented in 1844. Wyoming Traders has crafted a fabric specifically to reproduced the original linseed oiled slickers.
The unique cotton muslin material is hand painted with waterpoof acrylic latex coating and should not crack when cold or stick when hot. As the fabric is not made of plastic or nylon, it is more durable and can be easily repaired if torn.
The waterproof rain slicker is split for mounted use and sized large enough to cover the entire saddle; ideal protection for inclement weather. The historic styling features a double bib front closure with sewn-on metal buttons; one set for riding and a closer set for walking. It has a traditional red wool collar that snugs around the neck and two flap pockets. Please note that these are men’s sizing and designed to allow room for warm layers underneath a must have for every western re-enactor.
When measuring, keep tape snug but not tight.
